Bike Shop Service Manager

Splitrock Tap & Wheel is looking for an experienced Bicycle Service Manager to join our Fairfax, CA retail store team.  The Service Manager at Splitrock will manage the day to day operations of our service department and work with our General Manager to efficiently and effectively operate all aspects of our bicycle business.

Splitrock Tap & Wheel is a combined full-service bike shop and café/taproom in downtown Fairfax, CA, located a block from the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and the Marin Museum of Bicycling.  With a combined 5,000 square foot of showroom, service area and indoor/outdoor dining areas, we are also one of the largest bicycle retail locations in Marin County.  Our retail brand mix is focused on the performance dirt segment of the market:  Transition and Rocky Mountain are our anchor bike brands, with supporting P&A brands Giro/Bell (clothing, helmets, gloves, shoes), G-Form (protection and gloves), Dakine (protection and bags/packs), Fasthouse (performance and lifestyle clothing), Lezyne (tools, lights, pumps, etc), OneUp (EDC Tools, Dropper Posts, Pedals), and the necessary assortment of Maxxis tires, SRAM/RockShox brand components, and Shimano stuff.

 Qualified candidates should have:
  • 5 years experience as service manager in a busy bicycle retail environment
  • 5+ years bicycle service technician
    • Suspension service (fork and shock overhauls, including replacing seals, bushings and fluids)
    • Hydraulic disc brake service (diagnostics, bleed, and repair)
    • Full- suspension pivot/bushing overhaul
    • Drivetrain maintenance, service, adjustments and rebuild
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lightspeed Retail POS
    • Sales transactions (walk-up sales, layaways, etc.)
    • Service scheduling and service work assignments
    • Inventory management (PO creation, inventory receiving, and inventory control)
    • Customer management modules (inputting customer data, customer accounts, layaway deposits)
  • Functional understanding of G Suite Apps (Gsheets, Gdocs, Gmail, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Customer communications, face-to-face, over the phone and through email/text
    • Staff and management communications including assigning work tasks to mechanics and writing reports for management
  • Proven ability to sell high-end, performance products to enthusiast customers in a low-pressure style
  • Ability to work weekends

 Compensation and benefits
